Portland: Part 2

10.04.2014

I finally got around to editing the second part of my Portland anniversary vacation. Yea! It's crazy how busy I've gotten in the month since I've been back. There is something about fall that awakens my inner artist photographer baker EVERYTHING! I mean I'm usually a busy body but fall really inspires me.

Anyhoo back to my visit! I have to say there really is something for everyone in Oregon. Whether you're a city person or an outdoorsy enthusiast, this state really has it all. I loved the waterfall we visited, I can't get over how many are in Oregon. We passed so many along our wanderings but Multnomah Falls was my favorite. On our hike up the mountain we came across this tiny snake. I nearly squashed him! Had he not been so feisty, I would have put my hand in the shot to show how small he was. About the size of a worm! By far the smallest snake I've personally seen.

Mount Hood was another place we visited while in Oregon. What a beautiful area. Although I was surprised to find that the top portion of the mountain was mostly dead. Our eyes were blinded by the reflection of the sun bouncing off the tress. It was like a sea of bleached trees for as far as the eye could see.

On the morning we planned to leave Portland and visit the coast we made a quick stop at Voodoo Doughnuts. I felt like I was waiting in line to get into an exclusive club. The line wrapped around the side of the shop that was guided by ropes. Thankfully once we were inside, it wasn't much longer before we ordered and were back outside. The place was well worth the wait and see but I've had better doughnuts, fresher. And after what was probably a 30 min stop we discovered there was a place in Denver! Ha! I should have known. I do plan to take my girls to the one in Denver when we are up that way again. I think they'd have a blast.

One more part to my Portland adventure that I swear won't take forever to post! LOL!

Take Care & Enjoy,
Heather Gwinn

  1. I have heard that Voodoo Doughnuts is really popular! My brother-in-law brought us some of their doughnuts when he came back from a day trip down there, and they were delicious! And the photos of the dead trees; how interesting! I love the shot of you with the floral skirt on, so gorgeous.

    1. Thank you!!! Voodoo Doughnuts is a must see place, should you be in the area. The little voodoo doughnut guy is especially cute and fun to eat.

I've had a lucky streak at ModCloth lately and was able to purchase that skirt on sale! Usually I never care for the sale items but this summer has been a huge win!
