What I Wore: New Red Dress & Nature Drives with the Family

10.10.2014

My family and I love going for mountain drives, hikes, and well anything that has to do with exploring nature. Recently a fellow instragramer mentioned that one of my favorite roads finally opened up. It's been closed for about 6+ months (probably longer) due to terrible flooding. Bubbling over with excitement about the good news, we all piled in the car the next day and went for a ride. Old Stage Road also known as Gold Camp Road (it's all basically the same place) is a beautiful drive anytime of the year. In the fall (my favorite season) you can see the changing aspens ranging from a fiery orange to vibrant yellow spread between the evergreens. It's a wonderful pop of contrasting color. When starting at the springs entrance you steadily climb up in altitude as you make your way through beautiful mountain scape. When we started it was about 70 degrees but when we finally stopped to take pictures the temperature had already dropped to 45 degrees! EEK! I love the cold but it was windy and wearing a dress with no stockings was probably a bad idea. Oh the things we do in the name of fashion.

The red dress I'm wearing is part of a large line of dresses that come in many colors and patterns. I already own two, this red one making three. It's a fantastic fall and winter friendly dress and although it's sleeveless it layers wonderfully. I am particularly fond of the ascot-style collar. They use to make these in tops but sadly they have been discontinued. Wish I had gotten one.

The amazing glasses I am wearing were designed by Keiko for Bonlook. If you haven't seen her blog, check it out. She's the cutest thing! These glasses come in 4 colors and I've tried the mint and roxy. I'd love to get my hands on the pearl pair too.

If you are ever in Colorado Springs, take a drive on Old Stage. It's sights will be well worth the 1 1/2 hr drive.

Glasses: BonLook Cardigan: Forever 21 (Similar)  Dress: ModCloth  Lacy Shorts: ModCloth  Shoes: Chelsea Crew (Similar or these)

Take Care & Enjoy,
♥ Heather

  1. Oh, so pretty! I love the contrast in these pictures of the red dress against those amazing leaves. I've been somewhere similar to this in Colorado (my family lived there for two weeks) and I couldn't get over how amazing the trees were! And you look gorgeous. Those glasses are perfect on you!
Haha, I have often worn something that, weather wise, I regretted later. Oh, well! At least it looks good, right?

    1. Thank you! I love taking photos with the changing leaves in the background. It was a bit challenging editing this particular shoot with the yellow wanting to dominate everything but it was still fun.

I'm definitely guilty of wearing dresses and skirts all winter long. I have a love hate relationship with pants. Lol!
