Styling a Bump

4.06.2016

Hello beautiful readers! I'm back and again so soon (insert gasp and surprised emoji)! Although I've been behind on editing/posting photos I've been ahead on taking them. With all this new found energy that my second trimester has brought I find myself constantly picking up my camera.

In these photos I'm 18 weeks and this growing belly continues to be challenging but it's been fun to style, I can't wait to share more photos! I wish I had known more pregnant women in the past. Until recently, I've always been on my own with inspiration. I'll start by saying that I strongly dislike wearing my hair up. I swoon and dazzle over other women and their enchanting up-dos (like you Kristina!) but for some reason I always feel less than awesome when I do. Pregnancy also tends to give me a beautiful glow puffy face. It isn't as bad in these photos (I opted out of a few) but I'm currently feeling it.

I've also been feeling big as a house lately, which is crazy, because when I look back at photos I don't entirely look that way. I think seeing a big belly in front of me really creates the illusion. I can't remember if I felt the same way with my previous pregnancies. They say that when it's all over you forget the bad parts of being pregnant. I think in some ways that is really true, like looking back on a memory with foggy goggles. I remember getting sick and how difficult the after healing was but the day to day I don't. Living in Colorado also has its challenges, pregnant or not. In the springs, we are at 6,035 feet above sea level, that's higher than most. The air is thinner here and for some visiting, you will be affected. Pregnant women often experience shortness of breath but adding thinner air makes it all the more challenging. Walking up stairs while pregnant, and talking on the phone nearly kills me every time! I like to tell my girls I can see little pixies sometimes if I move around too much. While I'm perfectly okay I see stars in Colorado more often than I care to these days.

I'm thankful for skirts, like this one from ModCloth, and it's elastic back. It makes wearing skirts effortless. Actually I prefer elastic skirts all together, pregnant or not. I can never understand the women who complain in feedback about the elastic waist and wishing it didn't have it. Unless I plan to not eat all day or change after I do, I find a great many skirts uncomfortable to wear after eating. Elastic makes them breathe with me and adjust from a sitting and standing position. Not to mention I'm not always the same size during the month! What are your thoughts on skirts with an elastic waist band?

I love the photo below. It was a bit windy that day and these darn skirts love to fly up on me! That is why I am never found without shorts underneath my dresses and skirts. Thank goodness for Forever 21 and their insanely cheap bicycle shorts! I like to buy these and these.

Black White & lots of Red!

Hello lovelies! It's been a while since my last post, but isn't that the story of my life lately?! I know eventually I'll write more frequent on here but I'm still trying to work that out. Anyhoo, I shared several of these photos on Instagram a while back and wanted to share the rest on here. I have several other photo shoots to share so I better get this on up first!

For those of you who have had children, did you find a style or pieces of clothing you preferred while pregnant? I've found myself getting more retro as I get bigger. I've always been into the 50's/60's but lately I've been punching it up a notch. My previous pregnancies I didn't really care and wore a lot of comfy clothes but it always left me feeling frumpy. There is something about vintage modern styles (complete with pin curls) that makes me feel amazing.

I bought this dress on sale a month ago and decided I better get a wear in before it's retired to my closet till after baby. In these photos I'm 17 weeks. A small still fits me fairly well especially when I push up the waist. Sadly the top is huge on me! I never understand why so many smalls have such huge tops. Usually if you are a small, your top is too (unless you got a boob job and that shouldn't really count). Sorry grumble moment. Haha I come across this all the time.

I have lots I want to share but because these photos are so behind, I'm going to save those thoughts for more current posts. I'm determined to get ahead!

I love the photo below. I was in a great mood that day and I dunno I guess it really showed towards the end of this shoot. Gotta take those good pregnancy days where I can get them.

I had to share the photo below! Haha a lot of my photos tend to be filled with these (or me being weird). When my husband is the one photographing instead of me, the camera never stops clicking. Below the wind blew hair in my mouth. Shortly after I discovered I walked into a spider web. The spider dangled inches from my face. You can see spiderwebs on my arm. Does this ever happen to you?

Outfit:
Cardigan: ModCloth
Dress: ModCloth
Belt: Very Old (ModCloth)
Tights: Old - Forever 21 (similar, I bought these before despite their review and loved them)
Shoes: Old - Francescas

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! New posts should be going out all week.

Till then...

Take Care & Enjoy,
♥ Heather
