Mini Pot Revamp

11.22.2014

I was at Target the other day getting a few things when I happened to pass the decor isle. For a while now I've been running with the idea of trying a few faux succulents in my home to see if they would look okay and not be too tacky. I'm starting to accept, I just don't have a ton of light of in my home and until I can demolition my house with more windows I have to work with what I have. ANYHOO rambling, I was in the Target isle and saw this lonely succulent plant sitting there asking me to rescue it. So for $3.50 I really couldn't argue!

This was a pretty plain gray pot before I started. It also had a strange texture and while I plan to seek out better faux succulents and pots in the future this was a good trial plant to start with.

This whole project is very quick, affordable, and can easily be something the kiddo can participate in.

Supplies:

- Small Pot (Succulent Optional)
- Paint Brushes
- Acrylic Paint (Dries Faster)
- Masking Tape
- Painting Tray (Old Plate/ Or Paper Plate)
- Water Cup for Paint
- Something to Cover Crafting Space
- Gloss Sealer (Optional)

Directions:

- Make sure your crafting space is covered to keep paint from making a mess everywhere
- Give pot a quick wipe with damp cloth to make sure it's clean - allow to dry
- Paint your pot what ever color your want then allow it to fully dry.
- Then peel strips of tape and place into triangles on your pot, lightly press, then paint open area like shown above. You don't have to use Turtle Tape. It's just what I already had on hand. I love this stuff. It's pricy but you WILL get great results every time! Don't rush, do one section at a time and carefully peel the tape off when each area is dry. I finished my whole pot in about 1 1/2 hrs. Maybe a bit longer but I also had a daughter sitting right next to me drawing, who also loves to show me her pictures step by step in the making lol!

Lastly when you are done you can  paint or spray a glossy sealant over it. Like modpodge or an art spray. I had a glossy art spray on hand. This total project cost me $3.50

Take Care & Enjoy,
♥ Heather

I love home decorating. The planning, the shopping, the crafting, all of it!  It's something I've always loved to do but this past year has been a tough year on our finances and so I put that aside. Slowly things are getting better and going back to normal. 2 years ago we were blessed and moved from a 1300 sq foot home to a 3000 sq foot home and since then it's been pretty bare. With the weather bitterly cold outside I've been busy crafting away with things to keep me busy. I love all the geometric shapes that are trending right now. I was never into the chevron pattern though. Above is my current loves and inspirations. My home is a burst of color that circles greens, blues, grays, whites, and I'm working on introducing bits of yellow. I used to be really into a Tim Burton meets Alice in wonderland like theme and although it will always be a nice memory, I've moved onto a more vintage mid century like style.

Goals for the winter:
-Make new throw pillows
-Finish my granny square throw blanket
-Paint an old corner shelf I've had FOVEVER!
-Make dog bed

Decorate the home some more!

I'm sure this list will grow. It always does and changes all the time. I fear I am overly inspired and take on too many projects at once. LOL! Do you have any projects you are working on? I'd love for you to share. Do you live in the springs, if so lets meet up and get crafty!

Take Care & Enjoy,
Heather ♥

What I Wore: First Snow of the Year

11.13.2014

Well it's officially winter is here in the springs! On Monday it went from a pleasant sunny and 70's degrees day to wildly brisk and windy to snow to 20 degrees in a matter of hours. Usually I'm the first to go skipping down the street shouting to everyone "It's snowing, it's snowing! Hurray!" But I dunno, this time I kinda felt unprepared. It happened so fast! There was no warning. No tiny frost or samples of a coming winter. I know I know, It's November, in Colorado, I should be anticipating this but some how that's how I felt. Farewell beautiful Autumn. You were by far the most beautiful season I've had in all the 9 years I've lived in Colorado. Not to mention the longest fall we've ever had. Okay moving on.

In truth, winter is my close second favorite season of the year to autumn. There is something truly enchanting about the way snow makes all the grime and clutter on the streets look beautiful.

Recently I've had several people bring up the topic of getting dolled up and going outside for photos shoots in the snow or discussing how crazy it is. I admit, I'm guilty of dressing up and doing the same. Everything looks so much prettier in the snow! Even my skin does. I wish this first snow shoot of the year had had a nicer background but unfortunately we had company and I only stole Jedidiah away for a quick second to take these. Do you retire your skirts and dresses in the winter? Do you stick mostly to pants? Although I do wear jeans more often, what you see is a completely normal daily outfit for me. I prefer autumn weather but I tolerate the cold very well. If  I stay home, well it's leggings and tees. haha.

P.S.
Has anyone else been having trouble with blurry uploads on blogger today? None of my other posts are like this but this one seems blurry till I click on each pic even though they are crisp and the same as previous photos. Are they blurry from your viewing side too? I'd also love to know what browser you use the most. I use Firefox but am finding Chrome is faster and all around better.

Accutane: Day 10

11.03.2014

It has occurred to me that I am quite possibly mad. Wildly mad! After taking this last set of photos and going over them, I find myself asking why on earth am I doing this!?! I am the person who hides away from unexpected visitors when I'm undressed or more importantly, when I'm not wearing makeup. Only the tiniest circle of people ever see me so... naked.

This latest set of photos is certainly more raw. I chose a better lit place in my home and well it captured me, at my truest self. I'm not a young lass anymore and although my youth isn't completely gone I'm not the beauty that all the other bloggers are. A rough reality I deal with in strides. I am perhaps too hard on myself, as my husband often reminds me but I suppose we all have our vices.

Today officially marks 10 days that I have been taking Accutane. The first few days I did feel off. I'm not sure how else to describe it than perhaps feeling anxious. Then again when it comes to my health and taking pills I can get a bit nervous. After a few days that off feeling has faded some. I was told that my skin would be more sensitive to scratches and that it would be worse before better. That couldn't be more true. The slightest thing does cause my skin to peel. Even washing my face is a cautious task that requires a gentle touch. What's worse is I cant exfoliate at all! It's forbidden as it can damage your epidermis. *sigh* I love exfoliating. But I suppose 6 months isn't that long. As for the worse before better, I had hoped I would be that magical small percentile that doesn't experience worse breakouts...haha I was sorely mistaken! My skin around day 5 started to break out like crazy all over! My breakouts usually were the type that never reached the surface. This medicine is pushing everything forward. The plus side, they are healing much quicker than they ever have before. As for any other side affects, I'm not depressed. I'm too happy a person anyhoo. I am however experiencing mild dry lips and very dry eyes. I may be sticking mostly to glasses for the next few months. Other than that things are going good.

Hope I haven't scared any of my viewers away! LOL!

Take Care,
♥ Heather
