Crystallize - Lindsey Stirling (Dubstep Violin Original Song)

1.29.2014

When I'm painting I love to listen to music without words. It's less distracting. Lindsey Stirling is my favorite for that. I also think it's cool that I've been to those ice castles. They are beautiful. At night they are lit up with beautiful glowing colors.

1. Hand Painted  Espresso cups. Aren't these cups just too cute? We are huge coffee drinkers in this house and it seems there has been a shortage of coffee cups lately. I suspect Jed or Chloie is to blame but I have yet to prove it.

2. I've been eying their clothes for a while. I love their style.

3. Day Off the Grid Dress in Bright Floral - by ModCloth (Click for direct link)

4. Greet Your Day Socks in Cream - by ModCloth - I've been obsessed with over the knee socks lately! It's a nice change from tights all the time.

5. Charter School Cardigan in Peacock - by ModCloth - If you don't own one of their cardigans, give them a try! I own 5-6 of them. They complete any outfit so nicely.

6. Leaf for the Day Belt in Black - by ModCloth - I love elastic belts. They are so much more comfortable to wear. This particular belt also comes in brown, navy, and red.

7. Script Read-Through Flat - by ModCloth - These are so cute! ModCloth carries sever different styles and colors.

8. White Rabbit Ring - Their rings are so unique. The rabbit was definitely my favorite but all their jewelry is great. The snow fox was a close second.

9. Recently I've been adding a lot of white accents to brighten up my home. I love that this not only adds that white elements I want but a splash of green my most favorite color. (plant not included)

10. I love adding unusual vintage elements to my home. Not only is blue an accent in my home but I simply love the mod style it has.

Gretta & Buffy: My Furry Babies

1.21.2014

Gretta loves to look out the front door... and of course bark at anything that moves.
Buffy is quieter, mostly. Here she is barking at a toy Gretta is playing with.

This is her watching me, anticipating me grabbing her toy

It seems this past year cats have been such a huge thing. You see them everywhere. Clothes, decor, and photos galore (Ha I didn't mean to make that rhyme)! But I will be the first to admit that I don't like cats. At all! But in fairness I'm allergic to them. The funny thing is I think all cats know that and find humor in jumping on my lap and curling around my legs. My girls love them too. Sadly (not really) we will never own one. I do however love dogs! Sometimes I feel like a little kid every time I see one. I just want to run up to the owner and ask to pet their dog (okay I almost always do that). I especially love photographing my two furry babies, as I like to affectionately call them. Their personalities are so completely different. Gretta our Boxer is loud but kind. Gentle to everyone but a complete drama queen. She is often called a wookie with the noise she makes. Buffy our Boston Terrier is quiet but also a spitfire, watch out she could pounce on you! She's easily spooked but quick to forgive. I think I will always own some sort of smushie nosed breed. Their snorts, snoring, and even gas can be very comical. Are you an animal lover? What sort of pets do you have?

What I Wore: Warm Days Park Play

1.20.2014

I love winter it is one of my most favorite seasons, but sometimes I miss the warmer weather that is easier for us to get out in. So you can imagine when we do have warmer days, we like to get out and explore. Since moving more south we've really been enjoying this nature park near us. It's a wet land preserve with trails all over it. I love to take "what I wore" photos there. I'm sure joggers passing by think I'm nuts strolling by in heels. But when you're an at home mom, like me, you take advantage of anytime away from the house as a reason to dress up. Well I do at least. I've owned this dress for about 2 yrs and I have to say the longer I own it the more I love it. It's so easy to wear and dress up or down. I own several other colors but this one is definitely my favorite. I paired this with a honey colored cardigan cause although it looks great with a rust or red I think too many people go that route and I like to think outside the box. My lovely red shoes are slowly being worn more. I love Chelsea Crew shoes! I own a few pair but they are really uncomfortable to wear and take a LOT of breaking in. I recommend getting gel pad inserts for your heels!
The other reason we went to this park was cause I trying to improve my photography skills. My new Canon 70D is quite the upgrade from my Rebel. Today I was trying out its sports mode. My girls really loved that. running, skipping, and jumping galore.

What I Wore: Red Loves Snow

1.13.2014

There's something about the winter weather that I simply love! Snow days, bundling up, sipping warm coffee, and the wondrous way all that white outside makes my photographs look amazing! I'm not bothered by the cold and prefer it, so I love finding a great dress during the winter to wear. Since going a red/orangish hair color, I've found that certain colors, especially fall colors really pop on me. I've been wearing my wine colored coat more where when I was brunette it completely washed my skin. Isn't that crazy how the simplest thing can make such a dramatic change? What winter wear are you currently loving?

Finding Lost Marbles

1.10.2014

I follow several amazing blogs that are both fun to read and very inspiring. Something I find often through out them are the things they collect. I'm not much for "collecting" things per say, as I don't like clutter. I collect clothes, I have enough craft supplies to start a small craft store, and I have a nice collection of chicky romance novels, but to just collect something? No, I haven't done that since I was a child. Then today I came across a lone marble sitting on my coffee table and I realized I do collect something! Marbles! For some unknown reason I keep finding them everywhere! In the car, the backyard, and all through out the house in the strangest of places. I'm going to guess these were once my girls but after a while I started collecting them. I now have a small jar of marbles that grow weekly. Some day I hope to find a beautiful clear jar to better display them. Do you collect something? If so, what? How did you start collecting them?

New Year New Glasses!

1.09.2014

I usually prefer wearing contacts most days because they are just easier especially around kids and pets. But more and more lately I've been loving the fashion side of glasses. I'm such a sucker for that nerdy chic look. So after hearing a lot of positive reviews from BonLook I decided to give them a try.

I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised with how easy they were to purchase online. Their customer service was very helpful with answering my questions and concerns. I am officially hooked! I can't wait to try other styles and add to my collection. If you haven't tried BonLook yet check them out. They offer free shipping and no hassle returns.

Things to Come

It has always been my greatest want to create a blog where I could share my love of fashion, photography, craft ideas, etc. But I neglected to post over time and soon lost interest as this was mostly a soap blog. With the ending of Blackbird Soap Company which was both hard to give up and let go, I've decided to restart that dream of running a successful blog about the things I am most passionate about. So bare with me as I work on improving this blog and growing it into something I've always wanted it to be. Cheesy? Perhaps. Stay tuned for more to come.
