Capture 365: 34-40

2.16.2015

Day 34/365: More warm weather! Seriously Colorado, what is going on with you this year? I'm not complaining, I just feel like I'm in the twilight zone or something. Maybe we'll have an early summer this year. This is Piper right after a complete melt down about cleaning her room which she finally finished. I love her wild Hermione hair. ♥

Day 35/365: The sky was so blue and beautiful!

Day 36/365: This guy is not easy to photograph. I'm sure I've mentioned that before. He stands a bit higher than my hips (I'm 5'6.5). Outside he's all puppy and loves to jump around. He looks so funny shaved and without all his floppy curls.

Day 37/365: We got up early and played for a while before school. This is rare, extremely rare. We aren't morning people. Piper is building a house for her ponies.

Day 38/365: Today was mommy & daughters day. I took the girls to the park for a bit and afterwards we went out for frozen yogurt (before dinner). It was nice having some much needed girly time.

Day 39/365: I love this tongue shot! She's so cute. ♥

Day 40/365: This is Steve. Or that's what I'm calling him. I feel like he's trying to tell us something and is not happy that no one is getting it. We came across him in the mountains on one of our random snow drives.

Capture 365: Days 27-33

2.03.2015

Day 27/365: We are always trying new foods in our home, especially ones I can cook from scratch. A long while back I tried making eggplant. It was my first time tasting and cooking it. Boy was it terrible! But after spying some beautiful eggplants at the grocery store I couldn't resist giving them another try. I'm sooo very glad I did. These were a complete success. I made baked eggplant parmesan sliders. I regret I didn't get a photo of these finished delights. I'll try to get a recipe together soon.

Day 28/365: We do our best to get whenever the weather is nice during the winter. Wednesday it got into the mid 60's, it was such a treat to take the kids for a walk and of course do a small photo shoot. I just love how goofy Piper looks with her hair bunched in her glasses. She's so silly.

Day 29/365: Aww my bonsai is a bit bare right now. It was once full of leaves but lately it's been a bit sparse. It's my great hope it's finally taking a much needed rest. I've read bonsai plants are known to go dormant every year or two. I've had mine for 2 years so I think that's what's happening... I hope!

Day 30/365: This is where Chloie will spend 99.99% of her free time if allowed to do so. But in our home we're pretty strict on her spending too much time on her bed. Beds are for sleeping in. So often we encourage her to draw, read, or do an activity elsewhere. This photo was me capturing her hiding away... tisk tisk

Day 31/365: Oh hi there! Just me goofing around with my new 35mm 1.4 lens and how cool is my new shirt from Gnome Enterprises?! I absolutely love their tees. Amazing quality!

Day 31/365: Another lamp in my home. When I first moved in I had thought I would replace this guy but he's grown on me and now I can't picture not having it there.

Day 33/365: I can't picture my life without this beautiful soul. You better live to be 100 Gretta! (In people years...just saying)

Take Care & Enjoy,
♥ Heather

Capture 365: Days 20-26

1.28.2015

Day 20: 365: It was a crazy blizzard of a day Tuesday. On one of Jedidiah's slides down he cracked his sled. It was quit the comical site seeing him tumble and roll. Thankfully he wasn't hurt. More picts to come.

Day 21: 365: I'd love to think Buffy was talking to me in this photo about how she'd like to go outside or that perhaps she might like to go for a walk this week but alas she was only yawning.

Day 22 of 365Earlier this week I shared about my desperate need to alter some hems. I started one but I regret to report it is STILL sitting there on my table waiting to be finished... I'm a bit nervous to snip into my skirt. I'm working up to it, this time it's not procrastination. I swear! lol!

Day 23 of 365: I'm a proud mama who's showered daily with love and TONS of artwork.

Day 24 of 365: Bits of my home. I don't photograph it often because it's still so empty even though I'm crazy about home decorating. I also realized after taking this photo that my table is terribly dusty! Eek, just seeing that makes me anxious cause I'm a crazy clean freak. lol!

Day 25 of 365: Local wanderings. Manitou Springs.

Day 26 of 365: My old green kitchen lamp. My love for the color green knows no bounds!

I'm terribly late getting these photos out this week and I do apologize. Jedidiah is doing a lot of upgrades to the computer and it's made everything really sluggish. He's building a super computer and dividing everything into two computers. Yep he's my huge nerd! Things should hopefully be back to normal soon.

Take Care & Enjoy,
Heather

Capture 365: Days 13-19

1.20.2015

Day 13: 365: Piper is pretty passionate about two things right now. My Little Pony's and Frozen. Here she is holding her new Anna doll that she very much loves.

Day 14: 365: I use to photograph these two all the time and then stopped for some reason. I've decided to make more of an effort to capture my beautiful babies more. Here Gretta is stopping in the middle of play for an apparently much needed grooming. She's always grooming Buffy.

Day 15: 365: Walls of candy from one of our favorite local haunts, Goldminers Nuts & Candy. This place is not only affordable but full of all the classics. Yum!

Day 16: 365: Ahh Chloie, this beauty has been like trying to capture a unicorn or photograph the loch ness monster lately. She's either never there or always a blur. On one of our quick random drives I encouraged her to dress up and borrow my scarf. She looked so cute. It's a shame it started to snow too heavily to take any decent photos.

Day 17: 365:  I like not having to layer so much in the summer but I truly love seeing everything in a blanket of snow.

Day 18: 365: This is the little cutie pie I've been watching since she was just a wee newborn. She's quite possibly the perfect baby. I've never cared for an easier infant. If I could keep her all for myself I totally would, I love her to bits! She just turned 1 years old.

Day 19: 365: We've been having some unusually nice weather here and there this year. So we decided to take the girls for a quick trip to the park before it got too cold and dark. This is Chloie with her best friend Teresa.

Take Care & Enjoy,
Heather ♥

Capture 365: Days 6-12

1.13.2015

Day 6: 365: My sweet Gretta is starting to get all frosty in the face. She's creeping on 8.

Day 7: 365: Ahhh lately it seems like our lives has been fueled by Dutch Brothers Coffee. Their grapefruit rebel energy drink iced is pretty amazing too! If you haven't tried them, you need to! Although I've only seen them in Colorado and in Washington. But that's probably because both are awesome places in general. lol!

Day 8: 365: A lot of our spare time has been used to work on the girls playroom/ hang out space. Regrettably it's taking much longer than I would have liked to complete but like I mentioned before it's been a really busy past two months. Last month along with the holidays a family member passed away. It was sudden but with his health constantly declining we knew it was coming. Then Jedidiah has been traveling a lot lately. I'm grateful for the over time but not for having him gone so much. A few days ago my father inlaw (one of my personal role models) was overwhelmed with chest pains. Thankfully they decided to get it checked out. It turned out to be the early warnings of a heart attack. Had he not gone in for what resulted in an unexpected surgery he might have died. It was crazy seeing images of his heart and how closed the veins were. I'm so thankful to still have him with us. He still has so much to offer the world through his kindness and wisdom. ANYHOO, way off subject, I do this a lot in person too...LOL! We are still working on the room. I'm currently having a difficult time deciding on what direction I want to go with the decor and overall style. Piper is 7 and she will get the most use out of the room but Chloie is nearly 15 and I'd still like it to be a fun place for her to draw and lounge (That girl spends waaay too much time in her room...teenagers.)

Day 9: 365: We've had several frosty snow days lately. I love it when the trees get covered like this! It's a shame I don't own a 100mm to capture the details better. Ahh but someday...someday...

Day 10: 365: A lazy Saturday morning of coffee, muted tv's, and Little Big Planet.

Day 11: 365: When there is snow outside you can bet we are going to be outside exploring. Probably not the best time to explore but the snow just makes everything so much prettier! I'm looking out of an abandon building in Victor, Colorado. If you ever visit here this town alone is chalked full of abandoned mining buildings to wander through. Many of them are difficult to actually go in cause of the state of them but this one was mostly in tact minus the random deep holes in the floors (creepy). More images to come in another post.

Day 12: 365: Colorado Springs is such a winter wonderland right now. I'm loving it! I do miss warmer days and not layering so much but until then I'm going to enjoy this beautiful snow. Oh I made Jedidiah pull off of the highway for this shot, not too sure he was excited to do that but he's such an incredible husband. Thanks Jed! ♥

I'm late getting these posted, the story of my life lately, so sorry dear friends but I've been on a determined quest to discover why my images (which use to view crisp) are now viewing so fuzzy until clicked. It might seem trivial but when you work so hard on photographing, then editing, and finally upload them only to see they aren't as lovely, well its really disappointing. Okay done ranting.

Some final thoughts... Do you have a blog? Are you with wordpress or blogger? I'm considering making the switch to wordpress but there are things about them I'm not sure I like. I'd love to hear about your pro or cons to the blog format you use.

Gretta & Buffy: My Furry Babies

1.21.2014

Gretta loves to look out the front door... and of course bark at anything that moves.
Buffy is quieter, mostly. Here she is barking at a toy Gretta is playing with.

This is her watching me, anticipating me grabbing her toy

It seems this past year cats have been such a huge thing. You see them everywhere. Clothes, decor, and photos galore (Ha I didn't mean to make that rhyme)! But I will be the first to admit that I don't like cats. At all! But in fairness I'm allergic to them. The funny thing is I think all cats know that and find humor in jumping on my lap and curling around my legs. My girls love them too. Sadly (not really) we will never own one. I do however love dogs! Sometimes I feel like a little kid every time I see one. I just want to run up to the owner and ask to pet their dog (okay I almost always do that). I especially love photographing my two furry babies, as I like to affectionately call them. Their personalities are so completely different. Gretta our Boxer is loud but kind. Gentle to everyone but a complete drama queen. She is often called a wookie with the noise she makes. Buffy our Boston Terrier is quiet but also a spitfire, watch out she could pounce on you! She's easily spooked but quick to forgive. I think I will always own some sort of smushie nosed breed. Their snorts, snoring, and even gas can be very comical. Are you an animal lover? What sort of pets do you have?

My Furry Family

9.22.2012

Not amused. I'm bugging her...

Look at those eyes! Like the doggy version of Puss in Boots!

It's been pretty manic around our house this month. We've been busy! Orders are coming in like crazy and I've been a regular power house lately. New products being made, photos being taken, and labels being designed! Phew! Then to add to chaos my hubby (Jedidiah) and myself have been working on a workshop for Blackbird Soap Company! Yea! So why the pup photos? Well I found a minute of serenity last night and started taking pictures of my furry babies. Buffy is our Boston Terrier and newest to our family. Gretta, our Boxer, our Ol' baby. She's 5. Actually I was only photographing Buffy but she wasn't amused, I kept bugging her. Then Gretta came in sat on her (yes, sat on her) and reminded me she's #1. She's much more photogenic too!

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Nature Up Close

6.03.2012

My family and I recently went on our first camping trip of the summer and I thought it would be fun to share with you some photos I enjoyed taking with my spiffy camera.

While the guys set up ( I do all the packing and food prepping) I found myself wandering from plant to plant taking photos.

Until today I never would have guessed iris grew wild here in Colorado! It was everywhere. Pretty isn't it?!

I just love the color green. I might have to print and frame a few of these!

These are my other babies, Buffy and the one in the background is Gretta.

Mmm I just love camp food! This is my hubby Jedidiah

We go camping a lot during the summer while the weather is warm. If you are ever in Colorado I definitely recommend camping here. We like to go deep into the forest where most can't travel. The forests are lush and green with streams that run all over the place. Should you decide to go camping, contact me and I'd be happy to suggest all kinds of amazing locations!
